Hi Pako,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I totally agree with you that the most important thing is to beat yourself. It's the same with climbing. I don't see the rock as a competitor. Only myself and the coordination and communication between my mind and body. When climbing, I focus on the solution, not on the problem; then you can find the rest and energy needed to continue the climb. If you fall, just practice until you can make that particular difficult move. This feeling is very similar to PowerBall. Practice until you get it right. You cannot win or lose from the PowerBall, only from yourself.

What I do believe is that other people's achievements can work as a stimulant to improve yourself. If you know 15k is possible, then you will really go for it.

Unfortunately I cannot give you any good advise on how to improve your left. My left topscore is 13.4k+. My left-handed technique is completely different from my right. Like you, I cannot pulse with my left. However, I have predominantly focused on 30 seconds endurance with my left and high speed with my right (stamina has been good for my right from the beginning). This has helped me a lot for the 90 seconds. Even then, I use two different techniques; the one with my right is more relaxed than the one with my left, but this doesn't really matter because overall I can maintain 12k+ with both hands for at least 20 seconds.

Good luck with the live competitions these last few days of Octobre. Maybe you'll be able to beat my 90 seconds record!

Kind regards,
Dennis

I'm visiting my parents and haven't brought the powerballs with me. I plan to do a LONG rest, to come back stronger So, I guess u will be 90s top this month. Smile

I will definitely train my left on endurance, and well see... Wink

Pako.

What you need to do Pako is be strong, and just focus on your left. It really won't take long to improve those scores.

Take me, last night...my left Metal record is 11688, but in reverse direction it was 11230 or something. With a bit of endurance and speed, ONLY with my left, I soon got that up to over 11500. My 90s plastic left record was 15500 something, but a quick one of those last night and I upped that to 16400! Could only get about 12900 speed though, so not rubbish, but not that great. Still, just half an hour or 40 mintes of left-only Powerballing and my left is definitely getting better. Still feels uncoordinated, but it'll get there. Oh yeah, 6137 90s left only, means that with that, and a couple of 6200s with my right, I should be joining the exclusive 18k club very soon! Wink

Next job...beat Dennis's Metal score. I would've last night, by 7 rpm, if he hadn't just improved his record by 25 rpm the other day! Wink

I use SurGrip. I have managed 11700 exactly with a "clean" ball, but much more than that and no way can I hold on. Found SurGrip in a sports shop, in the racket section.

It's helping me fly up the Metal scoreboard. I know Jarkko uses something like it, but not sure GoUiDoS does...wonder if he could score better using something like SurGrip?

yeah, i find liquid magnesium helps a bit. But I prefer to use my clean and dry hand.

I once tried it on my right hand when i had blisters already healed, but skin was very dry and somehow not elastic, and what liquid magnesium did was make it more slippery. Using the metal i had the feeling it was going to slip (the slippery finger was one of the main grippers).

Obiw4n told me that in that case it's better to put wash the hand with a bit of water, to take away extra amount of magnesium. Any other explanations?

Pako.

I've never had a problem with slipperyness. The SurGrip I use is weird stuff though. If you don't shake the bottle, it comes out very watery, and is like glue! Too sticky. Give it a good shake and it's more like gel, but not as sticky. I didn't realise this with my first batch, and at the end all the stickyness had gone in the gel, and it was a bit slippery and powdery. I just make sure I give it a good shake.

I picked up the Metal the other day, after having polished all the SurGrip off, (like to clean it up for the photos!), and it was cold and my hand was a tiny bit damp, and I found I was able to get a really good grip on it, without any assistance. But generally, for the Metal, I need it.

I get blisters a lot more easily though, just on the edges of the tips of my fore finger and middle finger. Happend at the chat, and they were getting a bit sore. Didn't break though.
