I'd like to start a new topic to talk about solutions for the injuries produced by the use of the powerball. Of course, I think the best one is to rest, but that's not as easy as it sounds. heheheh.
I use following products to help recuperation (although lately I feel no improvement at all):
- Radio Salil
- Voltaren
- Tiger unguent
Have you guys tried any other miracle product? :-)

Blimey, if you can't sleep because of your injuries then you're WAAAAY overdoing it! My "bruised" fingers don't hurt at all unless I Powerball or squeeze my fingers hard with my other hand. I don't feel anything while I move my fingers or clench my fist or anything. Sometimes hurts if I pick up a plate or the dog's bowl.
My worst Powerball injury was in my elbow, after several days of overdoing it. Again, I couldn't feel any pain normally, but if I put my weight on my arm, (such as when getting up from being on the floor, or doing a press-up), my arm would just collapse. Rested for a week or two and it was fine.
I've certainly never had to use creams or drugs to help with injuries. Perhaps I don't push myself enough...perhaps that's why I'll never be a champion. _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

Pako,
I told you before. In my humble opinion, you are going way too far. Overtraining, injuries..these are serious risks when using the powerball.
The 22nd of July 2005 I did my 14204rpm record. The 9th of December 2005 I broke my record (not having reach 14k+ for ages). In my case it was a matter of "overtraining" rather than injuries (when you overtrain, your performance starts to drop rather than to increase).
Nevertheless, my father, being medically educated, told me that overtraining costs 6 months to recover from. Well, in my case, it was almost 5 months between the two records, so he was quite right with his prediction.
What is at least certain is that I am warned now and I listen better to my body. I just don't want another overtraining situation.
So, sorry to say this, but rest is the only way to heal from your injuries. What I remember from an inflammation I had is that the docter advised me:
2 weeks of complete rest
then start using the powerball slowly building up with steps of 10% per week, starting at a low level (let's say 10000rpm max, at least a point where you don't feel pain).
So, that was my preaching for today . I hope it will be useful for you and all other readers.
Best regards,

Too true. I brought my Metal in to work today, but have to be very strong not to touch it! _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

You were right. But I was too addicted to it and was hard to stop. Now I know I have to control myself. I deserve this punishment. :-)

I know this quite well from my gym experience.

I think my performance has not dropped. I think I could achieve right now 14k, but I would hurt my articulations.

I haven't touched the powerball with right hand since last live comp! And I won't do it until January. Meanwhile I will train my left arm, but less intensity and less time. I don't want to get injured with left also.

It was. Thanks for all your advices. Now it's up to me to follow them ;-)

Hi all,
I just bought a nice product (a balsem) for helping my muscles and strings to heal faster from the powerball trainings. Also it is useful for helping your muscles to warm up before you do your workout.
The smell is quite pleasant. A mixture of methol, eucalyptus, kamfer, and many others. Especially nice if you have got a cold .

Those products are good only for muscle pain ( tears and spasms ) not for inflamations of tendons or ligaments (usually the kind of pain I had).
The best things to do are to have rest (and drink a lot to recover faster). _________________ ^v^ Shazam ^v^

Hey recently i have found i have over done the powerballing, about a month or 2 ago i got my best record 12837rpm,didnt feel any pain that day but the day after the tendon in my right hand specifically the finger next to the pinkie caused me a lot of pain when powerballing,i left it for 2 weeks but i keep coming back to the powerball and the tendon isnt really healing.
anyway to add to the thread i am trying out 2 things to help with my tendons
1 maximuscle ache-free,claims to be good at maintaining tendons in intense training
had a few before and after my last session and it hasnt helped much
2 tiger balm, found 4 chinese glass things from local pound shop should help muscles from aching
im also going to try out using a stressball to help recovery, but like all have said before the best way is to rest,in my case longer than 2 weeks i just need to remember that!
il post again in a few weeks to tell you if im healed or not!

It´s a pity when you get a lesion like yours.
When I started powerballing I had a tendon problem too, but fortunately it healed in a short period, it was not too serious so I left the PB for two days and when I took it back I just used it at low speed, that helped me. Of course if the harm is worse resting is the best solution.

Well the pills didnt help me much the maximuscle ache free did nothing for me,once in the morning my fingers felt better
the tiger balm works wonders for stiff muscles but no help for tendons
the stressball has helped and also those hand grippers seem to help as long as you dont exert yourself to much
also powerballing at low speeds.
my hands have healed but im going to get back into powerballing slowly and take more rests
