Looking forward to meeting more Powerball players there

I've never played any proper on-line games. In the past I was always on slow dial-up, so it was rubbish really. I did play some 1-on-1 games with a friend, with one of us dialling into the other one's modem, and it was great fun, but again very slow.
Now I'm on Broadband I'd like to give it a proper go, but I'm having problems. I think my wireless modem router must be blocking all sorts of things, like IRC and gaming, because none of that sort of thing works. I've got Link2003 Golf that I'd like to play against my dad, and I've also got CounterStrike, but none of it works. Just need to set up Port Forwarding or whatever.
I have gone to LAN Parties before, and they're excellent fun. _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

Thought I'd bring this up again. I've been talking to friends for ages, saying, "We must try and have an on-line game some time", but nothing ever comes of it. I see that some people on here are into gaming, and I do have Half Life 2, which includes Counter Strike Source...but I've never really tried the on-line gaming thing.
Don't know when I'll get the chance, and I'm a bit out of practice really, so I might be rubbish, but I'd like to try and join in a game some time. Let me know what to search for when looking for a game, and if I find one from someone here I'll see if I can join.
My handle will probably be Spent Sparkler, but I'll maybe change it to Adrena1in so you know who I am.
And I don't just want to play Counter Strike, but it's the only game I've got which is "popular" on-line. It might actually be too slow on my laptop. HL2 was okay, but Lost Coast was really slow.
I also really like oldies, like Unreal Tournament, "Killing Spree!", which is probably my all-time "Rampage!!" favourite First Person Shooter.

Wow, I used to think I wasn't too bad at FPS gaming. Tried CS:S last night off-line, with 7 BOTs, and even though it was only on "Normal" difficulty I felt like I was playing against professionals! I might as well've just sat down and gone "Quack", the way I was getting picked off. Think I need to get in lots of practise before going on-line.
If anyone knows of any servers dedicated to beginners then let me know! _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

I might have to try this aswell. I've always been a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) online gamer, but always up for a change _________________ 250Hz - 15288

I've resisted those. Knew some friends who lived in Manchester, both with great jobs and great lifestyle, but then he literally got addicted to one...Everquest I think it was called. He would stay home to play 18 hours a day, stopped eating, lost his job, lost his girlfriend.
They do look fun though, and if it didn't cost a monthly fee I'd definitely give EVE a try...always did thnk Elite on the Amiga was one of the best games ever, and EVE is meant to be Elite of today, on-line and multi-player.
Have you got Counter Strike Source?
P.S. Tstering, you need to change your signature, re. the bit about when you're aiming to reach 15k! _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

I think we could have an UT game then... classic or 2004 if you want. The IRC chat could be the place to gather for such a game before we launch it What do you think? _________________ Help Gyrotek when you buy your Powerballs, use our banner:International, France, Thanks!!

That'd be cool. I only have Classic. 2003 didn't impress me, and not seen 2004 or even heard of UT3, but I'm an oldie, and I like the original games mostly. Quake rather than 2, 3 or 4. for example. _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)
