New powerball, newbie question.

I just got my first powerball. It's a techno. I just wondered if its right that the rotor can move approximently 2mm up and down, and appr. 1mm axially. Have I got a bad powerball, or are the tolerances supposed to be this big?

Tanks for your reply. Was afraid I had to return it... Seem to have some problems with my technique thoug. I can flick start it, read the score and all that, but i can't seem to get the thing up to 10k. I have no problem gripping it, but it feels like I'm not fast enough. Guess I have to give it more than two days Wink

But if anyone have expirienced the same and have some advice, I'd appriciate it.

Its just practice, keep at it and you'll beat your score regularly its only when you get higher that it becomes less frequent.

Hey stian, welcome to the forums. As James M said, the movement you're feeling in the Powerball rotor is perfectly normal. There's a good description of the inner-workings of a Powerball here. I found it quite useful and interesting.

As for you not being able to reach 10000 revs yet, don't worry, you will. Whenever I've handed the Powerball to friends, who've never used one before, they tend to always make very large movements with their arms to keep the Powerball spinning. The larger the arm movement the slower the top speed. In time you'll find you can keep the Powerball going without hardly moving your arm at all...this is the secret to fast speeds. Watch some of the videos here of the top Powerballers, especially Mathieu Tauzin and MJ...they're the two who, I think, have the best techniques.[/url]
