Trust me, the extra torque you mention in the Techno is absolutely nothing compared to the extra torque in the Metal. It's not twice as much torque, it's more like four or five times as much!!
I've been able to hold a 250Hz at 11k for over a minute in one hand, but when the Metal gets to 11k the torque is so much I literally can't hold on. (It doesn't help that it's bigger and a bit more slippery! (Perhaps I should do what Speeddelph does, and take the rubber grip off and use some sort of grip-chalk!)).
It's just so difficult to keep the hand and arm still with the Metal. _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

And the biggest danger with the metal is the risk on blisters. Once you think you are on the roll you have another nasty blister on your fingers and you are out of real practise for another week This happened to me already quite a few times, which is one of the reasons I did not exceed 12k I think.
Anyway, I don't give up hope

Although I'm looking forward to having the metal PB in my hands I might wait a while until I convince myself that the price is worth paying.
Reasons to buy a metal on my opinion are:
a) Same as all, see how hard I can spin it.
b) Given that it has more weight (and torque), I may not be so lazy and start training, so far I haven't really committed with serious training.
c) Training with the metal should improve scores with the 250hz PB.
Reasons not to buy it:
a) Price
b) Size. I went thru hell to getting the feel on the counter PB models, after starting with the Techno and really feeling comfortable with it. Size is very important for me, I can barely manage to grip the 250hz ball, it would be a great dissapointment if I bought the ball and found out that I can't grip it well.
Finally, maybe giving free metals to the top powerballer of the month instead of the two 250hz could be a good incentive to try toimprove our scores and get new faces in the top 100 scoreboard.

Aside from the price, the size is my biggest disappointment with the Metal. I really don't understand why they had to make it that much bigger. I'm thinking of selling it already. _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

Yes, definitely a disadvantage for people like me. My hands just fit around a Pro, but in the case of the metal I just lack a few millimeters on each finger. And I am sure that this is one of the reasons why my scores lack behind on the metal. As soon as I exceed 11k the metal just starts to "dance" in my hand and it's almost impossible to counteract that, because of my short fingers (well I have big hands, but relatively short fingers).
Nevertheless, I am never going to sell the metal. Because still i am convinced that it is a perfect training device. Especially my grip on the Pro has improved because of the metal.
Regards,

Now that I'm getting better with the Metal, I'm liking it more and more, and prefer it to my 250Hz Powerballs.
So yes, I'm the same...it would be the last I'd sell.
EDIT: Changed my mind...it won't be the first I'd sell, but it won't be the last either. Too heavy for me, but I'll never be without a fast, old 250Hz. _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

Nice one The Force, I thought I'd try some 30s endurance, but even in such a short time I still had to change hands three or four times, because I just can't hold onto the damn thing. (I need rubber gloves!!) I managed something like 4800 though, which I was quite pleased with. _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

With the reversed grip (rotor facing palm) i cannot hold the metal either. So, with the 30sec runs I hold them in the normal way in both hands (no transitions, 30 sec full stop with one hand.

Originally I found it easier to hold with the rotor to my palm, but not now. Still, at speed I can hold on for only 7 to 10 seconds. (Of course, I could go slower and not changed hands at all I suppose...) _________________ 250Hz: (L/R)

I also tend to have problems with getting a good grip on the metal. But sometimes I managed to get a good grip from the beginning towards the end, no matter what speed.
And maybe it's not surprising that these were the moments where I put my records

I know I could easily do 14500 90s...if only I could hold on. My grip is what's letting me down, and it's irritating.
I'll get some of those surgical gloves at lunch...
Maybe you should get surgery instead..... for bigger hands
